A world-class creative campus to open in the heart of Wellington city in early 2018.
A collaboration between Whitireia New Zealand and the Wellington Institute of Technology WelTec).
1000 students initially – domestic and international – each year
A $22.5m campus which is part of a wider $70m project by Willis Bond & Co rejuvenating Cuba and Dixon Street.
A hub for creativity, performance and applied arts – the first of its kind in New Zealand.
9,000m2 of dance studios, rehearsal and performance spaces, recording studios, mixing rooms and an in-house radio station, studios and salons for hair, beauty and make-up artistry, workshops for woodwork, jewellery making and sculpture, film photography studio and dark rooms, a 250 seat theatre and a 60 seat cinema.

Whitireia and Weltec programmes include digital media production and animation, journalism, creative writing, publishing and editing, music (rock, jazz, commercial and DJ), live sound and event production, creative IT, visual arts and design, Māori and Pasifika arts, jewellery, digital design and multi-media, photography, event management, makeup and hair artistry.
It will also be open to the public for shows, performances, exhibitions and workshops.
The Home of Te Auaha – ‘The Creative’
The name Te Auaha – or ‘the creative’ celebrates the students that will attend the Institute. This innovative new facility will inspire and excite our next generation of creatives, attracting storytellers, inventors, communicators, artisans, artists and visionaries. The bringing together of these creators and innovators into one single space has inspired the name for the building – Te Kāhui Auaha – the cluster of creativity.
